Changes

The future should be better than the present. Less tormented and more open for new decisions. To achieve this, therapy will remove barriers. I am pleased that you want to find more joy in your life again. Please make an appointment so that I can assist you in that undertaking.

Yours,

Cure

I practice psychoanalysis in the tradition of Sigmund Freud and Jacques Lacan as well as depth-psychological short therapy.

In the psychoanalytic treatment we search for the causes of psychogenic physical symptoms, frustrations, partnership problems, stress reactions or unwanted aspects of the personality. As these causes become expressed, our relationship to our memories and to painful experiences changes. It is my role as analyst to listen to you so carefully that in the process of your speaking you can discover new perspectives onto your unconscious and the structure of your personality and thus find opportunities to alter them. This will open up the future which no longer has to be the repetition of the past.

But not all problems demand a lengthy analytic uncovering. Especially crisis situations require a more rapidly effective intervention. Therefore I also offer you the option of a short therapy in which we decide on the number of meetings in advance (between 10 and 30) in order to address only one problem. This approach is also based on depth psychology, but it cannot achieve a fundamental exploration and reorientation. Sometimes, however, it is a first step toward a full analysis.

Therapies are possible in German or English.

Cutting Short

Psychoanalysis in the tradition of Jacques Lacan practices variable length sessions. Especially the first meetings of an analysis will often last longer than the standard 50 minutes. For subsequent sessions no specific length will be determined in advance, rather the analyst closes the session when something of such relevant nature emerges that it warrants special emphasis. The analysand can then ponder this material until the next meeting.

In the advanced stages of an analysis we often work without eye contact so that the analysand can speak without having to adhere to social conventions. Therefore the analyst sits outside the field of vision behind the couch. This set up explains why therapeutic sessions can also take place over the telephone. Thus an analysis can be continued when you are out of town. (Skype is obviously no alternative.)
